Christopher A. Schuld


Mr. Schuld obtained his law degree in 2002 from the University of Ottawa and was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2003. Mr. Schuld articled and spent the first five years of his practice in the construction litigation group of Canada’s largest national law firm, where his practice included builders liens, delay and payment claims, leaky building disputes, banking litigation, sports and entertainment representation and a general commercial litigation practice. Mr. Schuld then spent over three years as in-house counsel for an international insurance company, where he dealt with surety and new home warranty matters in western Canada. Mr. Schuld returned to private practice in 2012.  He is a partner at our Vancouver office.


Mr. Schuld has broad experience in civil and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on construction and real property disputes. Along with trial experience, Mr. Schuld has a significant Alternative Dispute Resolution practice, and has acted in complex, multi-party strata litigation. Mr. Schuld’s representative experience includes:

  •  Acting for the BC government in over 150 leaky school lawsuits
  •  Acting as litigation counsel, claims counsel and solicitor for all of the new home warranty providers in British Columbia
  •  Significant debt recovery experience and drafting of commercial agreements for creditors

Mr. Schuld is a member of the Surety Association of Canada and is on the board of directors of the Nanaimo Affordable Housing Society. He is the Vice-Chair of the Canadian Bar Association Products Liability Subsection and a member of the Canadian Bar Association Construction Subsection.


Mr. Schuld won the Vanier Cup, playing defensive back for the national champion University of Ottawa Gee-Gees football team when he was a second-year law student. More recently, he has raced six marathons and Ironman Canada. Mr. Schuld has a young family, and spends his weekends enjoying the many beautiful parks and beaches near his home in Nanaimo.
